About Us
Tom and Angela launched Coffee News in Anne Arundel and Prince George’s Counties in January 2007 after almost a decade of owning and operating 3 retail franchises. The expanded into Howard County (where they both grew up) in March 2015. Throughout their first business venture, Tom and Angela invested a great deal of time (and money) to promote their businesses throughout the communities they served. The same lessons they learned from purchasing advertising and marketing their businesses, Tom and Angela have applied to promoting Coffee News and working with their clients to help them get the most “bang for their buck.”
Why Work with Us?
We’re more than ink on paper! Our goal is to build relationships with our clients. Working with Coffee News isn’t transactional. The more we know about you and your business, the more we can assist you with matters beyond the paper. For many of our clients, the ad is the icing on the cake. They choose us because we bring a full marketing perspective to the conversation, offer guidance in other aspects of their business beyond advertising/marketing, and show them the ropes of being an engaged and present business owner in the community. We are active members of 5 Chambers and a handful of business groups. We encourage our clients to join us for networking and get involved in community events that would benefit their business. Not comfortable talking to a group of greater than 2 people? We help our clients feel at ease talking about their business and promoting themselves with succinct messaging.
We are your business resource! We’ve spent a combined 4 decades as business owners and community leaders building a vast network of people and resources to call on. The more we know about your business, the easier it is for us to listen out for potential referrals at every turn. We’ve been down the path of leasing space, doing a buildout, hiring (and firing) staff, and trying to keep all the balls in the air. Our clients benefit from our years of experience, our walking the same paths they’re walking, and the insight from our successes and mistakes. We can help see the bigger picture that someone who’s inside the business might not always see. Our clients have the ability to tap into our knowledge and resources to help propel their businesses forward.
We are not salespeople! We are the owners and operators. We’ve worn all the hats in each of our businesses and we have the t-shirts to prove it. 😉 That’s why we do the things that other advertising mediums don’t and can’t do for their clients. This is about relationships, not transactions. We don’t cold call, because we don’t like being cold called. No one does. It’s not a long-term solution to building a solid client base. We build relationships –with businesses we come in contact with, with community groups with our clients, with our distribution partners.
We are your eyes and ears in the community! We spent the first 20+ weeks of the pandemic walking our clients through PPP, EIDL, state and county loan and grant programs, navigating restrictions, making sure their messaging was up to date, fighting for them to reopen, helping them pivot to stay ahead of the curve, etc. Anything we can do or resources we can help find, we want to be the first call a client makes when things get tough. Every grant that came out we got as much info on the front end, contacted our clients to explain why it made sense for them, and how their business fit into the parameters.
When you work with us, you get the paper with its reach and frequency, plus all the benefits of working with us. Our passion is to assist our clients however we can.
Our mission is to offer weekly, category exclusive advertising at the best value in the Baltimore market. Through our affordable publication, we will provide our clients with a local, community approach to advertising, while still helping to expose them in areas beyond the county borders. Promotion of our clients will extend outside the normal distribution of Coffee News, as we will actively promote them through our vast networking in area Chambers, business groups, and community associations. Our goal is for Coffee News, and subsequently our clients, to be seen everywhere.
